The Barleylands Railway opened in 1989 utilising the track and most of the rolling stock from the North Benfleet Miniature Railway. Since then one new Steam locomotive Gowrie and Derek the Diesel Engine have joined the fleet!

DEREK THE MINITURE DIESEL ENGINE

The most recent welcome addition to Barleylands is DEREK the DIESEL engine! Derek will run 7 days a week during 2008. Buy a ticket, £1 per passenger, from the farm centre reception and hop on board!

(Please note that icy and wet conditions may suspend service during winter months).

Charters for DEREK the DIESEL can be arranged on special days for birthday parties and school group bookings, strictly by arrangement only, call the farm centre 01268 290229 for more details or email farmcentre@barleylands.co.uk.

Our fleet of miniature Steam Trains are off to be overhauled during 2008.

We hope to get them back, looking and working better than ever for future Speacial Event days.
