Jousting returns to the Essex Country Show

Knights of the Damned at Essex Country Show

Hold onto your horses! Jousting returns to the Essex Country Show here at Barleylands on 12th and 13th September.

Celebrating their 10th anniversary, The Knights of The Damned Jousting Stunt Team will be grabbing their lances, donning their armour and getting on horseback to wow show goers with an awesome display of stunts and horsemanship.

Heroic mounted knights will attempt to unhorse each other in the joust and visitors will be awed as they watch as the knights hone their skills by striking the man-shaped target, the quintain, and attempt to spear peasants’ heads off the ground at speed.

There’ll be choreographed foot fights with unmercilous swords, flaming fireballs on chains and unyielding quarterstaffs as well as the knights romantically accepting favours from the ladies and fighting for their honour.

Said Andrew Philpot Essex Country Show Director “We’re delighted to have jousting and The Knights of The Damned back at the show. They were last here five years ago in 2010 and their colourful displays were a real hit with visitors. We can’t wait to hear the pounding of hooves and clashes of swords again!”

Celebrating the best of rural Essex, past and present, the Essex Country Show brings together the very best arena events, demonstrations, attractions and exhibitions. Now in its 29th Year, this year also sees motorcycle displays from Britain’s Got Talent runners up Bolddog Lings, sing-a-longs with the ‘Snow Sisters’, a vintage funfair and crafts from yesteryear.
