Temporary Educational Assistants – April to July 2024

We are looking for flexible and enthusiastic Temporary Education Assistants to join our busy team from April to July 2024.  The role would suit retired teachers, gap year students, or anyone who loves teaching children and imparting knowledge about food, farming and the countryside to groups of children from early years to KS2.

Education Assistants

The Barleylands Education team facilitate a variety of themed educational days to link with the curriculum, and through fun, interactive activities and cookery workshops, give children a better understanding of where their food comes from, and the importance of a healthy balanced diet.

We are always looking for enthusiastic and lively individuals to join the team, hosting school visits.  If you have the skills and attributes we are seeking, we would love to hear from you.

The role is not full time.  You would be required term time only on days when schools are visiting, and your working hours would generally be between 8.30 a.m. and 3.30p.m.

This role would suit people returning to teaching or looking for part time work teaching children.

About you

  1. A fun and passionate person who enjoys teaching children
  2. Happy to lead large groups, imparting knowledge, facilitating hands on activities and checking that learning objectives are being met.
  3. Experience in working with EYFS, KS1 and KS2 children would be an advantage, but not necessary.
  4. Possess strong communication skills.
  5. Have a flexible work approach and be able to use your own initiative
  6. Be adaptable to an ever-changing working environment
  7. Be willing to absorb and relay information regarding Food, Farming and the Environment
  8. Hold a full/clean UK Driving Licence

Further information
• We are a team of two part time Education Managers and around 10 Education Assistants.
• We facilitate visits during term time only, therefore the job is not full time.
• We require staff to be flexible, as due to the nature of the programme we cannot offer set hour/days. It works well if you are looking for part time work or wish additional hours of teaching alongside another post.
• Working hours are between 8.30 and 3.30 according to demand.

Barleylands Farm Park Volunteers

We are not currently taking on any volunteers. Please check back in a few week time to see if we have any availability.

Short-Term or Under-18 Year Old Work Placements 

The Farm Park does not offer work placements on a short-term basis or for under 18 year olds but Imperial Birds of Prey can be contacted at [email protected] and they may be able to help.  Please contact them directly to see if they have availability for you.
