Part Time Admin Support Role

We are looking for a friendly, well organised person to join our Accounts Team at Barleylands.

Based in our Head Office at Barleylands Farm you will be working in a busy environment assisting with admin and finance duties working behind the scenes of the Farm, Farm Park, Campsite, Schools Programme and Equestrian Centre.

Your main role will be assisting the Accounts Department with General Admin with your main day to day duties including the following:

  • Data Input
  • Scanning & Filling
  • Franking
  • Microsoft Office Experience
  • Answering Telephone Calls
  • Assisting with Customer Enquiries
  • Taking Campsite Bookings
  • Inputting Purchase Invoices
  • Managing Spreadsheet Database
  • Liaising with Line Managers
  • Lunch / Holiday Reception Cover

The successful candidate will be very well organised, self-motivated with the ability to use their own initiative and a positive attitude to learn.  You will be IT literate with good excel skills and excellent attention to detail.  You will also have a good telephone manner and be able to deal confidently and positively with the public in person and by telephone.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone returning to work or looking to develop your accounts and office experience.

This is a part time role based in the Barleylands Farm Office with an immediate start date.

Working hours are from 9am to 1pm, 3 days a week.

Education Assistant

Barleylands are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible education assistant to cook with our visiting schools. The job will also include facilitating a variety of outdoor workshops. Hours of work will be 8:45am to 3:30pm according to demand.

The role will involve leading a group of children with accompanying adults, imparting knowledge, facilitating hands on activities, checking that learning objectives are being met and establishing a rapport with the group. Experience in working with children at KS1 and KS2 would be an advantage, but not essential. More importantly you will possess strong communication skills, be able to use your own initiative, be adaptable to an ever-changing working environment and be willing to absorb and relay information regarding Food, Farming and the Countryside.

Farm Park Visitor Attraction

The main duties are:

  • To undertake the general external upkeep to ensure a clean and tidy exterior is maintained.
  • General mowing, strimming & basic gardening.
  • Tractor driving and driving fork trucks, loading/unloading lorries.
  • Repairing fencing, signs etc.
  • Setting up and breaking down of events & conferences.

About You:

  • Must be approachable and able to deal with members of the public.
  • A smart appearance is very important.
  • Full clean driving licence is required.
  • As Maintenance Team Member you will have experience in one or more building trades including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting/ decorating or general building maintenance.

Full-Time Hours 8am to 5pm – weekdays and weekends (5 days flexible), also additional dates when required.

Barleylands Equestrian Centre Maintenance / Farm Hand

We are looking for an enthusiastic, bright, hands-on individual with a can-do attitude to join our hard-working team at the top Equestrian Centre in the region.

We pride ourselves on maintaining the centre to the highest of standards, keeping it clean and tidy providing our resident and visiting horses with excellent facilities.

Reporting to the Yard Manager, day to day duties will include cleaning and sweeping the yard, Menage Maintenance, Maintaining Fencing and water troughs, Tractor Driving, Hay & Bedding Delivery (on site), supporting with livery services and other ad-hoc maintenance duties.

Applicants must have a current valid Driving License.

A Forklift Ticket will be a bonus but not essential.

We are a well-established business and offer excellent rates of pay, overtime and a company pension.  You will be required to work from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday plus additional shifts at weekends, as and when required.

Barleylands Farm Park Volunteers

We are currently looking for volunteers who are able to work from 8am to 5.30pm. This is a great opportunity to gain experience and develop your skills, knowledge and workplace confidence, particularly when it comes to working with the public. Barleylands is a friendly, fun and unique place to work and if you have the skills and attributes we are seeking, we would love to hear from you.

About you:

  • Aged 18 years + (unfortunately our insurance requires all staff to be over 18).
  • A fun and passionate person who will enjoy engaging and interacting with visitors.
  • A team player who wants experience in a busy and fun environment, but who is also able to work independently.
  • Aptitude to think on your feet and solve problems creatively
  • Takes a proactive approach to Health & Safety to ensure a safe working environment

About the role:

  • Some areas of this job will require you to carry out general farm maintenance and gardening duties, therefore it is necessary for you to be physically fit and you must be prepared to be on your feet for most of the day.
  • You will be required to work outdoors in all weathers, with a variety of different animals from rabbits to ponies, sheep to ducks!
  • The role will also be largely customer-facing. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service and would expect you to show the same enthusiasm and courtesy to our visitors.
