Education Assistant

The Barleylands Education team facilitate a variety of themed educational days to link with the curriculum, and through fun, interactive activities and cookery workshops,  give children a better understanding of where their food comes from, and the importance of a healthy balanced diet.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and lively individual to join the team, hosting school visits.  If you have the skills and attributes we are seeking, we would love to hear from you.

Working hours – term time, between 8.30 and 3.30 according to demand.

About you:

  • A fun and passionate person who enjoys teaching children
  • Happy to lead large groups, imparting knowledge, facilitating hands on activities and checking that learning objectives are being met.
  • Experience in working with EYFS, KS1 and KS2 children  would be an advantage, but not necessary.
  • Possess strong communication skills.
  • Have a flexible work approach and be able to use your own initiative
  • Be adaptable to an ever-changing working environment
  • Be willing to absorb and relay information regarding Food, Farming and the Countryside
  • Hold a full/clean UK Driving Licence

Christmas Team Members

Barleylands Farm Park is seeking fun and charismatic individuals to join their team this Christmas season. We are looking for people with a warm heart and gentle demeanour who can create memorable experiences for our visitors. Helping children believe they are meeting the real Father Christmas, whilst spreading festive cheer and goodwill to our visitors.

You will be responsible for greeting families, checking in guests for their Father Christmas experience, preparing children and families to meet Santa, processing and up-selling photography merchandise at the till point.

If you are looking for a part time role and able to work weekends and the school holidays from 29th November – 24th December, then we want to hear from you!

About you:

  • Can demonstrate a friendly character and cheerful personality whilst interacting with families
  • Ability to create magical and individual experiences for the families visiting Father Christmas
  • Able to stay in character throughout with a smile on your face
  • Have a performance background, although this is not essential
  • A reliable team player, hardworking individual with excellent time management
  • Enjoy working indoors and outdoors in a busy and fun environment
  • Confident and authoritative individual with the ability to engage with children and parents
  • Aptitude to think on your feet and solve problems creatively
  • Takes a proactive approach to Health & Safety to ensure a safe working environment
  • If you are successful you will be expected to wear a festive costume/uniform which will be provided

Children’s Party Host –Weekend (Part Time)  

Barleylands Farm Park is a friendly, fun and unique place to work. We are seeking a bubbly, approachable and well organised person to join our team. With a range of birthday parties to host, from Farmyard Frolics to Pizza Parties and exclusive hires, we are looking for people who like nothing more than making a child’s birthday the best ever.

As a party host you will be leading large groups of children through different activities. You must be an enthusiastic person, able to communicate effectively with both children and their parents and have excellent time keeping skills.

Our award-winning Farm Park is home to a range of animals including Sheep, Goats, Pigs, Bunnies, Chickens, Alpacas and much more. With a range of daily activities including animal encounters, tractor rides, birds of prey displays, plus our giant bouncy pillow, indoor play barn and go karts the fun never stops. If you have the skills and attributes we are seeking then we would love to hear from you.

About you:

  • Able to create a party atmosphere and lead activities for large groups of children
  • Confident and authoritative individual with the ability to engage with children and parents 
  • Can confidently host pizza making demonstrations

  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks, priorities and forward planning
  • Aptitude to think on your feet and solve problems creatively
  • Excellent housekeeping skills 
  • Ability to support the wider Farm Park team as required
  • Takes a proactive approach to Health & Safety to ensure a safe working environment
  • Basic knowledge of food allergens and food safety

Maintenance Assistance

The main duties of this role are to undertake general day-to-day maintenance, for the external and internal upkeep of the Farm Park & Craft Village, plus other duties when required. A large element of work will be physical and hands on, ideal for a competent and knowledgeable Handyman or someone with a trade background looking for a new and varied role.

Job Description:

  • Carrying out general maintenance of buildings, fencing etc.
  • Able to complete basic gardening duties including weeding, mowing and strimming
  • Experience in painting/decorating (indoor and outdoor)
  • Basic woodwork skills to build sets and props for events
  • Basic electrical and plumbing skills to maintain supply
  • Maintain/install farm Park play equipment
  • Experience in driving tractors and forklift trucks (training will be given)
  • A trade background and/or a competent and knowledgeable Handyman would be an advantage
  • Must be approachable and able to deal with members of the public
  • Enjoy working outdoors in a busy and fun environment
  • A reliable team player with excellent time keeping
  • Aptitude to think on your feet and solve problems creatively
  • Smart in appearance
  • Hands on, flexible with a can-do attitude
  • Takes a proactive approach to Health & Safety to ensure a safe working environment
  • Holder of a full/clean UK Driving License
