Voluntary Education Assistants

Inspire the Next Generation: Become a Volunteer Education Assistant!

Do you have a passion for education, an interest in Food, Farming, and the Countryside, and have a desire to give back? We need you!

We are looking for dedicated individuals to join our education programme and help school children flourish. No lesson planning required, just focus entirely on what you do best, inspiring and connecting with children. Training will be given.

Whether you are a retired teacher, an ex-educator, or a professional with a flair for mentoring, your life experience and skills are incredibly valuable to us.

The Barleylands Education team facilitate a variety of themed educational days to link with the curriculum, and through fun, interactive activities and cookery workshops, give children a better understanding of where their food comes from, and the importance of a healthy balanced diet.

Working hours are flexible and within term time, between 8.30 am and 3.30 pm when schools are booked to visit. Uniform will be provided, and expenses paid.

Experienced Cleaner Required

Ensuring a high standard of presentation and hygiene in our offices, toilets and visitor centre.

Hours 3 pm to 9 pm, Monday to Friday, and be flexible when covering for holidays/sickness.

Good rates of pay depending on experience.

What are we looking for?

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written (English).
  • Previous experience in cleaning environment.
  • Local to the area

Core Responsibilities – Cleaning Operative / Cleaner:

  • Dust, damp wipe or wash walls, skirting boards, hand rails, ledges, window sills, radiators, lifts, doors and frames.
  • Sweeping and mopping floors.
  • Hovering of carpeted areas.
  • Emptying waste bins or similar receptacles, transporting waste material to designated collection points.
  • Replenish consumable items e.g. soap, toilet rolls, paper towels.
  • Clean kitchens, toilets, urinals, hand basins and sinks.

Having a Full Driving Licence and vehicle would be an advantage as our site covers a large area.
