Farm Animals


We have a vast range of breeds from Gotlands, Kerri-Hills and Suffolks to name a few.

You can bottle feed our lambs everyday and can even visit us during February half term see lambs being born


We have a large goat herd at the Farm who have been successfully breading for a number of years.

They are very cheeky and love getting lots of attention from our visitors.

Our baby goats are born April/May time and are a must see for any goat lover!


We have two female Friesian calves called Rosie and Jessie who are gentle giants and adore getting cuddles from our visitors.

They are growing up quick and are extremely curious so expect to be licked by their very long tongues!


Highland Cows

We also have two female Highland cows called Annie and Flora who are magnificent and very photogenic!

They are usually quite shy but can sometimes be tempted for an ear scratch in return for some food.


We have two male Alpacas called Hornbeam and Walnut who love being fed by our visitors but don’t enjoy the company of the Barleylands team- charming!

They are also known to strike a pose for the camera and will let you stroke them in you’re lucky.


We have a 4 females and 2 males who are mostly Holland Lop crosses.

They range in stunning colours from white, ginger and black and all have their own unique personalities but are all curious, fluffy and love their veg!

If you would like to stroke one of our bunnies, speak to our friendly team and they would love to help you.

Guinea Pigs

We have 5 males who live happily together nibbling away at hay and veggies and taking long naps.

They all have different marketing and colour ways making them extra adorable.

They are very squeaky and if you listen closely you can hear them talking to each other.


We have a family of mice who live together inside a fireplace themed environment.

Look carefully to see how many you can count…….we count 13


We have chickens, ducks, geese, pheasants, Guinea fowl and jungle fowl.

You can meet chicks and ducklings during the Easter holidays.

Bird Aviary

We have a tranquil bird aviary which is home to a range of canaries, finches, doves and more.

It’s the perfect place to take a seat and listen to their beautiful songs.


Bobby the donkey and Freddie the pony, along with our two miniature donkeys, can be found in the animal barn stables.

Check in with them for a pat and scratch during animal contact time.


Flossy and Polly are two gorgeous sows you can find in the animal barn.

They’re friendly, mischievous characters but please don’t touch as they can get a little excited and bite.

Nocturnal Animals

Fruit Bats

We have a colony of 9 bats who are male and female and are breeding.

They spend most of their time hanging out together eating fruit and cleaning each other.

They are a must see when coming to Barleylands Farm Park.


We have a beautiful American Striped Skunk called Primrose.

She is a very friendly young skunk who loves food and long naps using her tail as a blanket.

Sugar Guilders

We have a female called Lilo and a male called Stitch who are an adorable couple.

They love tucking into fruit, veg and bugs. You can find them snuggling together on a branch or running on their wheel!


We have a male Jerboa called Jerry, he shares his environment with the fruit bats!

He has full range of the floor with hides, bushes and dishes for his favorite food- kale!


We have a female Tenrec called Marge, she is a hairy mammal with a very powerful sense of smell.

She is a team favourite and can be often found having a snooze with a full belly of grubs!


Sonic is our male Large Eared Hedgehog who is very nimble and has a fluffy chest.

He loves hiding in his environment but can be tempted out with a bug or two!

Exotic Animals


We have wide range of wonderful lizards such as frilled lizards who are called Richard and David, two Casque-Headed Iguanas, Two Egyptian Spiny-tailed lizards and two Madagascan day geckos.

The team have designed each of their environments to reflect their natural habitats, this turns spotting them into a game!


We have 4 breeds of snake living in the Exotic Area at the moment. These include an African House Snake called Neils, Green Tree Pythons called Qwen and Gareth, 2 Boa Constrictors called Neville and Lune and lastly a Dwarf Reticulated Python called Banana.


We have a range of fascinating frogs such as Borneo Eared Frogs Boris and Belinda, a African Bull Frog called Barry, a White Tree Frog called Tim and  Copes Grey Tree Frogs.

The frogs come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, some as big as your finger nail!


We have a Mellers Chameleon called Craig, he the star of the show and had amazing accuracy when having a locus snack!

His eyes can move separately and change his skin colour to reflect his surroundings.


We have a Blue Tongued Skink called Bert-yes he does have a blue tongue!


We currently have a Colorado river toad called Carl, he loves his grubs and a warm moist hide to nap in.


We have insects including Giant African Land Snails, Scorpions (Tailess whip scorpion, Asian forest scorpion) Madagascan hissing cockroaches and giant African millipedes.


We have an Axolotl called Arnold and a Tiger Salamander called Randle, they are very interesting creatures who’s skin feel gummy!

Birds of Prey


The Birds of Prey centre is home to a range of wonderful birds such as 3 species of Hawks, Buzzards, 8 species of Falcons, Kestrels, Steppe Eagle, Kookaburra, 8 species of Owl, Secretary Bird and a Vulture.
